New cafe to visit in town!

Japanese pancake chain Flipper’s opened its first flagship store in Singapore store on Nov. 6, 2020.

Less than a year since its opening, the cafe located in Takashimaya Shopping Centre is now MUIS halal-certified!

Fans of soufflé pancakes — those thick, wobbly kind — would be delighted to know that that is Flipper’s specialty.

Unlike most pancake chains, however, Flipper’s offer both sweet and savoury options.

Prices lean more to the steep side, though. Here’s what you can expect on the menu:

  • Kiseki Plain Pancake, S$16.80
  • Kiseki Hazelnut Chocolate Pancake, S$21.80
  • Kiseki Matcha Pancake, S$19.80
  • Kiseki Fresh Fruits Pancake, S$21.80
  • Milo Lovers Pancake, S$20.80 (National Day Special)

  • Eggs Benedict Soufflé Pancake, S$22.80
  • Honey Chicken Souffle Pancake, S$22.80

The beverages here are equally pretty as they are pricey, but we’d probably still buy them anyway.

Take your pick from:

  • Strawberry Fresh Milk, S$7.90
  • Rose Strawberry Milk, S$7.90
  • Iced Chocolate, S$6.90

If you’d rather stick with more familiar drinks, coffee (from S$5.50) and lemon/citron tea (from S$5.50) are also available.

Delivery available

We all know the best time to consume these fluffy pancakes is as soon as they are freshly made, but if you need them delivered, Flipper’s does that too.

The Space

Flipper’s occupies a basement unit in Takashimaya Shopping Centre. The 58-seat eatery is spacious and sports a clean, modern look with the quintessential neon signs that every cafe has to have these days.

A glass-partitioned kitchen within the cafe allows diners to watch as staff creates the soufflé pancakes using Japan-imported copper griddles — which are apparently used by the OG store in Tokyo too.
