Last month, we wrote about a halal takoyaki shop that opened in Somerset, but lo and behold, another takoyaki shop also opened at the same time in Yishun.
So folks in the north, if you’re seeking takoyaki nearby, check out Banana Dre, a relatively new Japanese street food shop in Junction 9.
From HBB to physical shop
Banana Dre follows a similar rite of passage as most small F&B shops to come out of the pandemic – it has its origins as a home-based business (HBB).
The husband and wife business focuses on takoyaki, a popular Japanese ball-shaped street food snack made of batter and fillings.
On 27 November 2021, Banana Dre officially opens its shop on the second floor of Junction 9.
Takoyaki from S$6.50
The shop offers several sets of its takoyaki, with prices starting from S$6.50 for a box of 6, and even options to choose a mix of up to 3 fillings.
Here’s the price chart:
One can enjoy the takoyaki with just one filling or choose up to 3 from these options:
- Crab
- Prawn
- Hotdog
- Scallop
- Octopus (S$0.20/pc)
The takoyaki also comes with a choice of sauce: Original or Chezzy.
Additionally, you can enhance the flavours and textures even further for S$2 with add-ons such as Seaweed Sesame, extra Bonito Flakes or extra Sauce.
Delivery available
For the freshest tako balls, it’s best to get them directly from the shop.
However, if you’d rather stay at home, Banana Dre has also partnered with Pacquetz for online orders with S$4 islandwide delivery.
