If you’re watching your weight this festive season, and prefer to be selective on what you spend your calories on, here are our top picks of unique log cakes that are worth making new year resolutions for.
1. Black Forest Log – Three’s A Crowd
Can’t decide between a log cake and a gingerbread house? With Three’s A Crowd’s festive offering this year, you can have both. Their Black Forest log cake is a fusion of gingerbread house and classic yule log. With baked elements pretending to be house parts, the otherwise basic log cake is transformed into a table centrepiece. The cake consists of soft fluffy chocolate sponge layered with rich dark chocolate mousse and succulent cherries. We loved Three’s A Crowd’s mooncakes this year, so we expect this log cake to be a hit too.

2. Chocolate and Banana Log Cake – Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium
Apparently, this is Executive Chef Chua Yew Hock’s secret recipe, and he almost did not want to sell this at all. Similarly, we had second thoughts on whether to share it here too, because we much rather it remain a secret. Long term diners at Atrium Restaurant would have tasted slices of the cake for years during Christmas. And for the first time ever, they are bringing it out of the restaurant to homes so that everyone can finally try this classic favourite pairing of chocolate mousse and pure banana puree.

3. Carrot Log Cake – All Things Delicious
The homegrown bakery cafe is going all out with their Christmas collection this year. Of the three log cakes on offer, we are particularly drawn to the Carrot Log Cake. Soft and spiced just right, the carrot cake is rolled in a cream cheese frosting and topped with candied walnuts for crunch.

4. Ferraro Yule Triple Log Cake – Butter Studio
Why have one log cake when you can have a stack of three logs in one cake?! Gravity-defying creation aside, Butter Studio’s offering this year is a chocolate lover’s dream come true: Decadent handcrafted Valrhona Chocolate sponge cake filled with delicious chocolate praline, coated in luxurious, smooth chocolate ganache and decorated with a beautiful hand-piped Poinsettia buttercream flower.
5. Christmas Ice Cream Cake Collection – Swensen’s
If there’s an award for restaurant with the mostest this Christmas, Swensen’s would win first prize. Unlike other restaurants that offer three or four flavours, Swensen’s is offering nine, making it their most splendid and extensive Christmas ice cream cake collection yet. The cakes range from 350g, 500g & 1kg, so these are perfect for gifting at nearly every budget and for any family, big or small. And yes, all-time favourite flavour Sticky Chewy Chocolate is featured in some of the cakes.
